Hills & Trees - Series of Works
When I first moved home from the United States, I was struck by the green New Zealand’s pastures and forests. The bubble trees characterise the surreal scenes like the elation I felt returning home as I travelled to various locations around the North Island, from the beachside community of Herbertville to views out the car window on State Highway 1.
The gouache washes layer to an opaque matte finish close to that of a screen print while remaining unique as the medium retains a few brushstrokes within the layers.
